A Preschool–Grade 8 School Where Children Are Challenged, Known and Ready for What Comes Next

The Children's School is intentionally designed around childhood.

Through challenging academics, project-based learning, Outdoor Education, and a deeply connected community, students develop the confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills they need for high school and for a rapidly changing world.

Nurturing and academically challenging. That's the TCS difference.

A Thoughtfully Designed Journey from Preschool - 8th Grade

Preschool
(3's/4's and 4's/5's)

Where curiosity becomes confidence.

The preschool years shape how children feel about learning for the rest of their lives. At TCS, children explore, build, create, question, and play their way into a strong academic foundation.

Through hands-on experiences, they develop early literacy, math, science, and problem-solving skills while building confidence.

Here, learning is joyful because children are active participants, not passive observers.

Elementary
(Kindergarten - Grade 5)

Learning gets deeper and more meaningful.

Project-based learning challenges students to ask questions, investigate real problems, collaborate with classmates, and communicate their thinking clearly.

Rather than memorizing answers, students learn how to think critically, solve complex problems, and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

Because children are deeply known by their teachers, they're encouraged to take academic risks and discover they're capable of more than they imagined.

Middle School
(Grades 6 - 8)

Ready for high school. Ready for life.

Middle school is where students begin discovering who they are.

Our small classes, advisory program, project-based learning, Outdoor Education experiences, and student-led clubs, give students opportunities to lead, collaborate, and advocate for themselves.

By graduation, students leave TCS prepared for many different kinds of high schools, not because they've memorized more facts, but because they've learned how to think critically, communicate effectively, and adapt to new challenges.

Why Families Choose TCS

Families choose The Children's School because they're looking for something different. They want a school where children experience challenging academics without sacrificing childhood. Where learning is hands-on instead of passive. Where students are deeply known by their teachers. Where graduates leave confident enough to thrive in whatever high school comes next.

That's the difference a preschool – grade 8 school can make.

Here’s what one parent said about why they chose TCS :

I wanted (our daughter) to go someplace where she could be challenged and really have a love of learning. My primary concern was that she would be in a safe learning environment where she could thrive and have the freedom and confidence to mature, grow, and adopt this love of learning. She has definitely done that at TCS.”

Why a Preschool - Grade 8 School?

Childhood Matters.
Children don't have to grow up faster simply because they're on a school campus.

Because TCS serves preschool through eighth grade, every program, teacher, and resource is intentionally focused on the developmental needs of children and young adolescents.

Students have the time and support to grow in confidence, discover who they are, and become ready for wherever they go next.

Learning Should Be Experienced. Learning sticks when children investigate, build, debate, create, experiment, and solve authentic problems.

That's why project-based learning is woven throughout a TCS education. Students don't simply memorize information—they learn how to apply it.

Every Child Deserves To Be Known.
Children learn best when they feel they belong.

Our intentionally diverse community creates a place where students are known deeply, valued for who they are, and encouraged to share their perspectives with confidence.

Ready For What's Next.
Ninety percent of TCS graduates are admitted to one of their first-choice high schools, but that's only part of the story.

Again and again, alumni tell us they left TCS with something even more valuable: confidence, curiosity, self-advocacy, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.

Those qualities help them thrive wherever they go next.
